This is my third tattoo. These were modeled after those shitty dip-dyed daisies you can get in supermarkets. When I was little, my nan would get me these whenever I did something good; good grades, a dance concert, anything. She recently passed away and did not shed a tear. I’ve learned that grieving just isn’t my thing, and this was my way of commemorating her impact on my life.

On October 31, 2011 a girl was dangling off the edge of the GW bridge. Several cop cars showed up a few minutes later after several 911 calls. Asked what she was doing, she said: “Enjoying life.” Strangely poetic that one person’s enjoyment of life can appear to so many as a desire for death.
